Task

Course Assessments

Students will be graded with two forms of assessments, namely, summative and formative.


The summative assessment

Carries 40% of the total marks will be administered at the end of the semester as an exam. This will be made up of multiple-choice questions, based on the course contents. 



The formative assessment which carries 60% of the total marks, students must Answer two (2) of the following 5 questions, each one thousand (1500) words


1. Evaluate the merits and demerits of the scholarly view that New Testament authors sometimes employed their writings to oppose the Graeco-Roman Empire (1500 words).


2. Describe the relevance of the main features of the Imperial cult of first century Graeco-Roman Empire for interpretation of the New Testament (1500 words).


3. Explain the relevance of the varying responses of first century Jewish sects, namely, Pharisees, Sadducees, Herodians and the Scribes, to the presence of the Roman colonial agents in Palestine for interpreting the Gospels (1500 words).


4. Using the references to the word “centurion” in Gospel of Luke and Acts of the Apostles, demonstrate the impact of the interactions between first century Christianity and the Roman military establishment (1500 words).


5. How does the nature of slavery in first century Graeco-Roman context enhance your interpretation of Jesus’ washing of His disciples’ feet in John 13? (1500 words).
