Course Description

Ministers’ personal development positive health related behaviours for optimal physical, mental, emotional, social and spiritual well-being. The course is designed to help the clergyman make intelligent health care choices.

Course Objectives

  1. Explain the significance of a healthy lifestyle for pastors in premature diseases and promoting wellness.
  2. Recognize one’s personal responsibility to reduce health risks related to the leading causes of death and disability 
  3. Develop health alternatives in the management of stress
  4. Assess, address and implement personal nutritional and fitness needs
  5. Identify the key components of personal fitness and describe the benefits of regular physical activity and healthy diet.

  1. Overview of Wellness
  2. Assessing your own health
  3. Preserving your own psychological health
  4. Injury prevention; musculoskeletal knowledge safety at home and in the workplace
  5. Healthy sexuality
  6. Managing stress and coping with life and work-related challenges
  7. Sleep therapy, adequate rest, vacations and picnics with family
  8. Water therapy, Dance and laughter therapy and music therapy
  9. Emotional intelligence, Anger management, managing worry
  10. Social Intelligence: Cultivating Soft skills and Building healthy relationships 
  11. Time management and work-life balance
  12. Nutrition and dietetics: Eating and drinking healthy, using phyto-nutrients
  13. Improving personal fitness, physical exercise
  14. Reducing your risk of CVD, cancer, heart-attack, stroke and diabetes
  15. Coveting and practicing forgiveness as the ultimate spiritual exercise
  16. Spiritual intelligence: Prayer, intelligent fasting, retreat and meditation  
  17. Promotion environmental health – living and working in a clean, naturally ventilated and well day-lit home, office and church auditorium
